The Elgin Academy

The Elgin Academy Harold D. Rider Center is approximately 40,000 Sq. Ft. new building housing classrooms, offices, library and little theater. The building achieved a LEED Gold rating from the USGBC for new construction. This building will use 35% less domestic water from the dual flush water closets, low flow urinals and lavatories.
Energy savings are from an enhanced building envelope including windows which were modeled. The lighting fixtures utilize T8 lamps with program start electronic ballasts. The lighting design total wattage is 23% better than the energy code. The lighting controls consist of: multiple level lighting controls with multiple zone lighting control and occupancy sensor for automatic lighting shut-off.
