AUTOCAD DATA TRANSFERS GUIDELINES
Drawing Xref's

Xrefs in the drawing must not be hard pathed. If they are hard pathed the receiver must then have the same project directory structure as you do. Since most people will not, do not hard path the xrefs.

Do not forget to send all of the xrefs along with the drawing. If you do not include the xrefs the receiving party will have a drawing that is incomplete.

Third Party Application Data
If you use Architectural Desktop or some other third party application you must save all drawings as R14. If the drawings are not saved as R14 the receiving party will not be able to open the drawings and/or the drawings will be incomplete. The receiving party does not have your application and therefore can not read the files
File Naming Conventions
Drawing naming convention must be W95 compliant. If the receiving party does not have NT they will not be able to open or read files that do not have W95 compliant names.
File Compression
If you must zip the files together include the program that was used to zip the files or make the files self extracting.
